Blade Steel: 5 layer forged “CU Mai” The core is W-2 Carbon Steel. On either side of the core is a layer of Copper. The final two outside layers are Damascus, comprised of 1095 Carbon Steel and 15N25 Nickel.
Guard: Twist Pattern Damascus
Handle: Presentation-Grade Desert Ironwood
Sheath: Custom Made Leather Sheath by the maker
Comments: A NEW Twist on a classic hunting knife style. This exceptionally executed, forged 5-Layer “CU Mai” blade has a W-2 Carbon Steel core, a layer of Copper on either side of the core & the two outside layers are Damascus. The Damascus is comprised of 1095 Carbon Steel & 15N25 Nickel. Dan calls his steel “CU Mai” because CU is the mineral abbreviation for Copper and the sandwiched construction is similar to San Mai. Add the Presentation-Grade Desert Ironwood handle & the result is fabulous! Dan is an ABS Journeyman Smith.
