NATIONAL KNIFE DAY! – Celebrating one of humanity’s oldest and most essential tools. This day recognized the progression of cutting utility with primitive stone, flint and bone to modern day steels and fine tuned craftsmanship. Why today? The origin dates back to a letter on August 24th, 1838 by Rezin Bowie regarding his famous Bowie Knife.

Many knife enthusiasts use this day for maintenance to clean & oil their knives. Collectors and knifemakers sometimes showcase their favorite blades on social media. We should all “sharpen” our skills, explore new designs, and join our fellow knife enthusiasts in appreciating this fundamental, but cherished instrument.
